You already know the routine. You order the size you have worn for twenty years. You open the box. You walk to the kitchen and back. Something is off.

Half a size up and the heel lifts on the stairs. Half a size down and your toes hit the front by the second block. You order wide. Wide is extra room at the ball of the foot, not at the toes, and now the heel is loose too.

So you keep the almost-pair. You buy two of the model that finally worked, because next year they will change it. You keep a bag of inserts. And every time, the listing said true to size.

That is not bad luck. A size is one number: heel to toe. A width letter is one more. Two numbers cannot describe two different feet.

01Your size 9 is not a foot. It is a guess.

Two people wear a men’s 9. One has a high instep and a narrow heel. The other has a low arch and a wide forefoot. Heel to toe, they match. Everywhere else, they do not.

The chart only asked the first question. Every shoe in that size is cut to one last, one shape, and the factory hopes your foot is close enough. When it is not, people write “runs small,” “runs narrow,” “not true to size.” In the reviews we read, 231 people said the size chart itself was wrong. Most had already tried two or three sizes.

A scan asks the rest at once. Length, yes, but also instep height, heel width, forefoot width, toe length, and volume, for each foot. FitX builds from that, not from a number on a box.

02“Wide” stretches the parts that already fit.

Size up for toe room and the heel slips. Size down for hold and the front crushes. So you order wide. Wide is the whole shoe stretched a few millimeters, including the places that already fit.

431 people said the toe box was too tight. 90 of those had already sized up. 67 had already ordered wide, and it was still tight at the toes. 46 wrote some version of “wide is not wide.” 144 said the tongue or the collar rubbed.

Room at the toes and hold at the heel are two different jobs. A width letter tries to do both with one stretch.

03Your left foot and your right foot are not the same size.

You buy for the bigger foot, and the other one swims. You buy for the smaller, and one shoe pinches. People describe it in plain language: the left fit, the right was tight across the front. One shoe is smaller. Store pairs are made as twins. Your feet are not.

FitX scans both feet and builds each shoe on its own. The left and the right can differ in fit and still look like a pair from the outside. A store shoe cannot do that. It was cut before it met you.

There is no size to pick and no width to guess. You scan both feet with your phone. No extra gear. No tracing your outline on paper.

05This pair is not made until it has your scan.

Every store shoe was finished months before you saw it. The FitX 01 is built after your scan.

The knit upper is cut to your profile. The midsole is a 3D-printed Carbon lattice for your foot, plus foam. Left and right are printed separately. The whole shoe is not printed. The part that decides fit is.

What arrives is a running shoe. 10.1 oz in a men’s US 9. 12 mm drop. Engineered mesh, white. Not a brace. A shoe, cut to your feet instead of to a chart.

If the fit is wrong, FitX remakes the pair at no extra cost. Delivery is 8 to 10 weeks after you confirm your Fit Profile.
